Connolly Oyler is steadfast in its representation of its clients, and therefore is very thorough in explaining the process by which your family law issue or issues will be handled. Connolly Oyler wants you to know exactly what you're getting into before the process begins.
In terms of procedure, a new client would call the office and have an extensive intake conversation with Connolly Oyler, generally 20-30 minutes in length. During the conversation, the case would be discussed, including the fees involved.
If the attorney and the prospective client both feel comfortable, an appointment is then scheduled for the initial consultation and retention. During this initial consultation, items that you may need to aid in your case include:
- Copies of any previous tax returns since you and your spouse were together;
- Any pre-nuptial agreements;
- Any title/mortgage note on property you hold with your spouse;
- Any financial assets, such as 401(k) information, stock portfolio information, etc.
- Information on any children involved;
- Information on any and all outstanding debts, including car loans, credit cards, etc.
- Any and all inheritance information, such as heirlooms, money, and the like;
- A list of property you had before you got married and have kept separate
Free initial consultations are available, and the firm has the ability to speak English, Spanish, Hebrew and Farsi. Please feel free to contact the office at any time. There are people on location at the firm from 6:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and the attorneys are very diligent in checking their voice mail.
Do not hesitate to stand up for your rights. Once you retain an attorney at the firm, he or she will handle your legal situation from there. You do not need to have any further correspondence in terms of the divorce itself with your spouse. Let your attorneys handle that for you, so you can get on with your life.
